Chand Baori - One of the Biggest Step Well
 
Chand Baori is a famous stepwell situated in the village Abhaneri near Jaipur in Indian state of Rajasthan.This step well is located opposite Harshat Mata Temple and is one of the deepest and largest step wells in India. This well was built in the 10 century in India and is a clear indicator of environment with heavy drinking water in those days.  The harsh climatic conditions of the region, people were forced to dig deeper and deeper waters in search.
 
Chand Baori depth of 30 meters, which equals 13 storey building. Legend says that ghosts dug a well for one night at the direction of the mysterious sorcerer.  So it or not, in any case gigantic work has been done. 16 more images after the jump.
